The 30th May, 2015 was a red-letter day in the history of the Gangadhar Meher University (GMU). It is on this day, one of the oldest and the largest colleges of India, the glorious NAAC accredited ‘A’ grade Gangadhar Meher Autonomous College was metamorphosed into a unitary university. In a span of little over two years, it has succeeded in attracting large number of talented youths to the domain of higher education characterized by diverse undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs it offers. The attractive heritage building, laudable legacy & traditions, and vibrant academic atmosphere define the very stature of this great institution of higher learning, established in pre-independence era (1944). Being named after the illustrious Odia Poet Gangadhar Meher, popularly known as Swabhab Kavi in Odia, this university is poised to become an educational hub of Odisha making higher education accessible, equitable, excellent and inclusive.
